Description

Profile 33702 – Aluminium Stair Nosing with PVC Insert– 42 × 34 mm

Durable aluminium stair nosing profile with a 42 mm tread width and 34 mm vertical face, designed to protect stair edges and accommodate a replaceable PVC insert. Available with smooth or slip-resistant inserts in multiple colours, Profile 33702 provides a practical solution for protecting and finishing stair edges in commercial, public and residential interiors.

Product description

The 33702 Aluminium Stair Nosing Profile is designed to provide durable protection to stair edges while incorporating a replaceable PVC insert for additional grip and a clean finished appearance.

Manufactured from aluminium, the profile combines a 42 mm wide tread section with a 34 mm vertical face, providing increased coverage of the stair edge compared with lower-profile alternatives. It is particularly suited to applications where both the horizontal tread edge and a larger section of the vertical stair face require protection.

The aluminium body incorporates a dovetail guide designed to accommodate interchangeable PVC inserts. Two insert options are available: 2504 slip-resistant and 2505 smooth, allowing the profile to be configured according to the requirements of the project.

A selection of PVC insert colours makes it possible to coordinate the stair nosing with the surrounding interior or create a contrasting stair edge. Available colours include black, brown, yellow, anthracite, light grey, blue, green, red, photoluminescent and beige.

Profile 33702 is supplied with countersunk fixing holes for mechanical installation and is available in 2.5 m and 5 m lengths. A broad selection of anodized and polished aluminium finishes provides additional flexibility for different architectural environments.

Installation

The aluminium profile features countersunk fixing holes positioned within the dovetail guide. The profile is secured to the stair using appropriate screws and, depending on the substrate, suitable dowels. The manufacturer's installation instructions also note successful installation using an adhesive bond.

After securing the aluminium profile, the PVC insert is fitted into the dovetail guide.

The manufacturer recommends cutting the PVC insert to the required length while cold, but allowing it to reach room temperature before fitting. This makes the material flexible enough to compress into the profile correctly. Excessive heating should be avoided because it may cause expansion followed by shrinkage.

For additional security, the manufacturer recommends applying adhesive at individual points between the PVC insert and aluminium profile to help prevent possible shrinkage.
